Flagstaff’s Vibrant Pickleball Scene: A Feature from American Dream TV
I had the fantastic opportunity to appear on American Dream TV, where I shared my passion for real estate and showcased the vibrant community of Flagstaff, Arizona. I shared a highlight of one of the fastest-growing sports in the country—pickleball—and how it’s transforming our community. From Forest Highlands to Continental Country Club and Bushmaster Park, let’s explore how this sport is bringing people together and making a difference in so many lives.
A Conversation with Nicole Chambers at Forest Highlands
Our first stop is the breathtaking Forest Highlands Golf Club, where I had the pleasure of speaking with Nicole Chambers, the Director of Racquet Sports. Nicole’s story is fascinating—she was a tennis professional for most of her life and became the first ambassador for pickleball in Flagstaff. She co-founded the Flagstaff Pickleball Association and is largely responsible for introducing pickleball to Forest Highlands.
Nicole’s transition from tennis to pickleball started at a tennis convention, where the rise of pickleball was creating a stir within the tennis community. Intrigued, Nicole decided to explore this new sport. What began with temporary lines on the tennis courts quickly grew into multiple dedicated pickleball courts at Forest Highlands.
I asked Nicole about the impact she’s seen pickleball have on the players she’s trained. Her response was heartwarming. Nicole shared a story about a client who, despite her efforts, struggled with tennis and often left the court frustrated. But the first time she played pickleball? Instant joy. A smile lit up her face, and Nicole knew then that pickleball had the power to transform not just a game but the lives of those who play it.
Continental Country Club: A Pickleball Haven
Next, we visited Continental Country Club, a mountain oasis for both local pickleball players and second-homeowners. Here, the atmosphere is vibrant with open play, scheduled courts, and round-robin tournaments that bring people together. Continental has created a sense of community, whether through a casual game or a fun-filled potluck.
One of the best parts? After a game of pickleball, players head to The Oakmont for delicious food and drinks, adding a social element that makes the pickleball experience at Continental Country Club even more special.
Bushmaster Park: Public Courts and Strong Community Ties
Our final stop is Bushmaster Park, where the public pickleball courts are always buzzing with activity. This is where locals, tourists, and passersby come together to enjoy the game. At Bushmaster, it’s more than just about the sport—it’s about the friendships and connections that are forged on these courts.
I had the pleasure of meeting Alicia Hendricks, the USA Pickleball Ambassador for Flagstaff. Alicia’s journey is truly inspiring—she started as a complete beginner but quickly fell in love with pickleball. Now, as an ambassador, she helps others discover the joy of the game. Alicia shared how pickleball gives people a reason to show up, practice harder, and build a supportive community that cheers each other on.
The Pickleball Spirit in Flagstaff
From private clubs to public parks, Flagstaff’s pickleball scene is thriving. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just picking up a paddle for the first time, pickleball has something for everyone. It fosters friendships, creates community, and brings a little extra joy to life.
I hope this feature has inspired you to get out and play some pickleball! Whether it’s at Forest Highlands, Continental Country Club, or Bushmaster Park, you’ll find courts full of friendly faces and a sport that will change your life for the better.
